All this week Giant Jones will be pouring a variety of American Wine Project’s orange, or skin-contact, wines. And we are celebrating the release of AWP’s newest vintage of Antipodes 2021.
- 100% whole cluster fermented Frontenac gris, aged for 2 years in barrel.
Rich, almost chocolatey bing cherry, dried herbs and lively acid. This wine is vivacious and complex and is an exciting second vintage of our most unusual cuvee.

Woo-hoo!!! If you’ve been to our tasting room the last year, you may have noticed some State Line Whiskey barrels just hanging out. Well we’ve had some GJ beer aging in them and we’ve decided it’s time to share it with all of you!
Join us as we celebrate our FIRST BARREL-AGED BEER EVER!
The first 50 people to purchase a full pour of this delicious beer will receive a State Line coupon for 10% off a bottle of their single malt whiskey, which barrels were used to age our beer.
Some friends from State Line will be here to help with the festivities too!
And yes, bottles of this new beer will also be available to purchase.
Awildan Distilling will release our first aged spirit– a barreled version of their Genever. The release event is scheduled for April 22nd, 2023 and will also feature a Canadian-Style Spruce beer brewed in collaboration with us here at Giant Jones!
Our Giant Jones Pop-up will be at Awildan from 12pm-4pm. There will be music by folk musician Andreas TransØ (4pm-6pm), and food from Melted Craft Grilled Cheese food truck.
From Awildan’s Website:
What is a barreled Genever you ask? We put our Genever in an ex-bourbon cask for over 10 months. The result is a truly unique spirit where the single malt whiskey base spirit shines through, with additional sweetness from the white oak barrel. Juniper, floral notes, and orange citrus sit atop, lending complexity that continues long into the finish. Needless to say, this spirit pushes the boundaries of what a botanical spirit and whiskey hybrid can be.
If you’ve stopped by the distillery, you may have heard me mention single malt whiskey a few times. My first serious exploration of the world of distilled spirits centered on Scottish single malt whisky, and my passion for it prompted my pursuit of opening my own distillery. One of the hardest parts about opening a distillery focused on whiskey production is waiting for the whiskey to mature. At Awildan, it’s 3-5 years minimum depending on the cooperage. With releases like this Barreled Genever, and the Progress Report whiskey being released in November 2023, I’m excited to give people a preview of what Awildan Distilling is all about.
