Make Music Madison at Giant Jones

Make Music Madison is a free, citywide day of music every June 21. We are part of Make Music Day, a celebration that occurs in 1,000+ cities across the globe. Madison began participating in 2013 and now boasts the largest event in the country. Parks, porches, restaurants, shops, worship spaces and more fill with music for all to enjoy!

This year we welcome 5 groups that will be performing here in our tasting room.

Grab a beer & enjoy some great live music!!!

The Stop And Listen
Formed in Madison in 2023, the Stop and Listen bring unique instrumentation and high-energy fun to a range of American traditional music. Hot fiddle tunes, jug band blues, hillbilly songs, and more. Featuring Daniel Plane (cello, fiddle), Calvin Woodring (harmonica), Adam Helt-Baldwin (bass), and Mike Tiboris (banjo). It’s a chimerical mashup that is unlike any other. Stop, listen, and let ‘er rip!

Still Jaded After All These Years
We feature guitar, keyboards, saxophone, vocals, percussion, and occasional cello and trombone. We do covers of pop, rock, jazz, country, and folk tunes from all eras (but admittedly heavy on the 60s and 70s stuff!).

Steady JB
I started songwriting and performing 30 years ago in bands and as a solo performer, adapted the name Steady JB. As a solo act, with my own equipment, I am versatile to fill in between sets or do sets of my own. I have backed up blues and rock bands, as well as reggaeton. Some collaborations are documented on the jazz_joints_productions YouTube channel. I collaborate well with others and look forward to participating in new sound!

Old Gray Cats
We play Old Timey Music. This music came from the banjos and fiddles of the 1800’s. Bluegrass came out of this tradition. The fiddle tunes are still widely used for square dances and contra dances today. With the Old Gray Cats for today are: Linda Millunzi-Jones, Fiddle Greg Jones, Guitar Joe McNally, Banjo

Flannel And Rust
Roots music with an eclectic, well-traveled flair. Smart lyrics, ninja-style guitar and finely-crafted songs. What more do you need? Playing mostly originals, with a few fun covers thrown in to keep the people dancing.

May Day Pizza & Music Benefit for Gaza

The Middle East Children’s Alliance is a nonprofit organization working for the rights and the well-being of children in the Middle East. This event is free, there is a suggested donation of $10 (or whatever you can spare).

Trans Day of Visibility Weekend Celebration – Friday

Join us as we celebrate Trans Day of Visibility ALL weekend long!

We kick off our celebration with an art opening AND live music.

Our walls will be decorated with the amazing work from Rae Senarighi, aka Transpainter and our official Art Opening Night begins at 5pm!

Rae is a champion of storytelling through art, as a fine artist, designer and muralist, an activist, cancer survivor and pursuing accurate and celebratory representation of the trans community. Rae currently resides in Madison, WI, but he makes a lasting impact throughout the world. His art can be seen internationally and is featured in a wide range of outlets from Art Voices magazine to DNA India.

Rae’s dream is to celebrate accurate representation of trans and nonbinary people through painted portraiture worldwide. His mission of self-acceptance and love shows in his work through vibrant portraits reflecting celebration and beauty. With vivid and bold colors these portraits radiate the brilliance of the individuals and celebrate accepting and loving one’s self. Rae’s trust in himself is vital to him in his journey of understanding and accepting his own identity, reminding all of us to not only love ourselves, but to celebrate and lift up one’s community.

We will also have musical entertainment from Kat and the Hurricane! They’ll be playing a live acoustic set and will be available for questions. Music starts at 6:30pm.

Kat and the Hurricane is a genre- and gender-bending indie-pop/synth-rock trio from Madison, Wisconsin. Lead singer/guitarist Kat Rhapsody (they/them), keyboardist/vocalist Benjamin Rose (they/them), and drummer Alex Nelson (they/them) deliver a unique blend of pop and haunting indie rock they affectionately refer to as “sad lesbian music.” Or to put it in technical terms, a gender- and genre-defiant mix of queer emo jams & sapphic bops.

Winner of 4 Madison Area Music Association Awards, including “New Artist of the Year” for their breakout in 2020.

And of course we’ll have multiple delicious beers made by our very own Jessica Jones!

Our Trans Day of Visibility events are presented with financial support from OPEN Foundation, the Out Professional Engagement Network.
