SUMMARY:"Raíces en Color" Art Opening
DESCRIPTION:“Raíces en Color” (Roots in Color) is a collaborative art show by Rodrigo Carapia and Issis Macías that vividly celebrates the connection between Mexican heritage\, culture\, and identity. This exhibition showcases their complete body of collaborative work\, merging Macías’ emotive abstract compositions with Carapia’s vibrant imagery\, celebrating the rich cultural landscape of Mexico. The show explores themes of migration\, transformation\, resilience\, and love\, using color as a powerful symbol for the complexity and vibrancy of cultural identity. Through this collaborative process—where each artist works independently and without consultation—their distinct styles intertwine to create a dynamic visual dialogue that invites viewers to connect with both personal and collective histories rooted in culture and heritage. \nJoin us for the opening night! Grab a beer\, meet the artists and maybe buy some local art! \nAbout the artists: \nIssis Macias\, a self-taught artist and daughter of Mexican immigrants\, was born and raised in Los Angeles\, California. Her creative journey is deeply connected to her community and the diverse artists she has met. In 2020\, amid the uncertainty of the Covid-19 pandemic and a major career shift\, Macias became a new mother. Embracing her art with renewed passion\, she used creativity as a means to navigate and heal during these challenging times. Her intuitive painting practice produces vibrant\, emotive compositions where color\, shapes\, and lines mirror the journey of life. Currently based in Madison\, Wisconsin\, Macias remains closely tied to Los Angeles. \nRodrigo Carapia Art is a self-taught artist who originates from Mexico City. He first began with\nstreet art\, which allowed him to experiment with his art on bigger scales. When he moved to the\nUnited States he began to perfect his art on canvas and paper. Once his brush touches the\ncanvas the work he portrays becomes an epitome of his rich Mexa culture. Now\, as an artist Mr. Carapia uses his work as a form of self-expression and resistance through offering art workshops in schools\,  juvenile correctional centers\, which has given the youth a form of expression and a sense of freedom. His work has also been donated to grassroots organizations that help the undocumented community- and workers unions. You might spot his art around Wisconsin in murals\, restaurants\, and in several showcases.

SUMMARY:Wonderporium Album Release Party
DESCRIPTION:  \nThe Wonderporium presents an evening of improvised electronic music to celebrate the release of their debut album\, Two Impromptus. \n“Two Impromptus” features two long-form improvisations they recorded in the midst of a January snowstorm. The end result is at once patient and cinematic\, glacial and hyper-eclectic. As these explorations unfold\, the scenes set themselves: barren midwest tundras\, fire-lit parlors\, mountainside temples\, abandoned Cold War radar stations\, a celebration of the end times. \nWe’re so excited to be hosting our talented friends. They will perform 1\, maybe 2 sets of amazing music for you to enjoy. This event is FREE\, just pay for any food or beverages.
