SUMMARY:Sunday Funday Music at Fete de Marquette - Lagniappe Stage
DESCRIPTION:It’s Sunday Funday at Giant Jones & our Lagniappe stage will be showcasing amazing musical acts all day long. Our tasting room will open at Noon so come on by and grab some beers & sit back and enjoy the music… \n1pm-2pm The Stop and Listen – The Stop and Listen plays old-time stringband music with a unique set of instruments and voices. We specialize in fiddle tunes\, old-time songs\, jug band numbers\, and country blues. They bring some serious drive and groove with harmonicas (sometimes a couple at once)\, extraordinary improvisation on cello and fiddle\, banjos of uncompromising size\, and a bass with a chip on its shoulder. Songs are sung with an old-time swagger\, harmonies included. \n2:45pm-3:45pm The Lonesome Cobras – A band from Madison and Milwaukee featuring an unusual take on songwriter music–with violin\, accordion\, upright bass\, multiple vocalists\, and a dark\, bluesy sound. \n4:30pm-5:30pm Jon Irabagon Trio – First-generation Filipino-American saxophonist Jon Irabagon (b. 1978\, Chicago) draws from the AACM’s innovative spirit and Chicago’s storied tenor saxophone legacy. Equally skilled in modern jazz and new music\, he blends influences from late-period Coltrane and modern classical\, composing primarily for mixed chamber ensembles tailored to his musicians’ unique voices. \n6:15pm-7:15pm Mr Chair – Mr. Chair is a boundary-pushing Madison piano trio blending jazz\, classical\, and experimental sounds. Known for dynamic collaborations across genres\, they’ve released acclaimed albums like Nebulebula\, Better Days\, the operatic Sirena\, and hip hop-infused Spectaculous. Their adventurous performances range from A Charlie Brown Christmas to Stravinsky reworks\, all marked by bold storytelling and musical precision.

SUMMARY:Make Music Madison at Giant Jones
DESCRIPTION:Make Music Madison is a free\, citywide day of music every June 21. We are part of Make Music Day\, a celebration that occurs in 1\,000+ cities across the globe. Madison began participating in 2013 and now boasts one of the largest events in the country. Parks\, porches\, restaurants\, shops\, worship spaces and more fill with music for all to enjoy! \nWe love being an included venue for this day\, and love featuring great local talent! Our tasting room will open at 2pm as we kick off a full day of music. Below are the artists we’re pairing up with. \n2PM –  Chente Medina – Musician\, singer\, and songwriter Chente Medina has been playing and writing music for the past 18 years. From California to New York entertaining with his Chicano Pop/Rock \n  \n3PM – Two Tones – Spontaneous jams from an unlikely rock and soul pair…. Rocky-folk acoustic guitar rhythms accompanying the dynamic and soulful vocals gives the Two Tones their unique sound. \n  \n4PM – Lakewaves Trio – Lakewaves Trio is a Madison-centric\, groove-based outfit that crafts celestial originals with an eclectic\, progressive\, soundscape-y instrumentalism that’s pretty much guaranteed to get an intense response from your local community no matter where you are – a Motel 6 in Pittsburgh\, an abandoned factory in south Milwaukee or a quinceañera in East LA. And like their offbeat\, [Zach] Galifianak(ian) song titles allude to\, the experimental music creates a fitting soundtrack to anything from bank robberies and impromptu dance parties to other cinematic activities. Led by Graham Marlowe\, an eccentric Wisconsin-based keyboardist/pianist\, “synthesizer graffiti artist” and instrumental solo artist (Lakewaves)\, the Trio likes to follow its unusually gratifying formula of drawing on six-plus hours of celestial originals\, adapting vocal and non-vocal covers into dreamy tangentials and spontaneously composing to the vibe of the rooms they play to. \n  \n5PM – The Night Painters – The Night Painters are an indie rock trio based in Madison. They recently released their sophomore album\, Fence of Perfect Lines\, that explores life’s shifting landscape\, the push and pull between security and passion\, and the question of whether we’re truly in control of our own future. They have a deep catalog of original songs and can adapt to fit venues of all sizes\, from coffee shops to large outdoor spaces. \n  \n6PM – Strong Arm Sally – Strong Arm Sally is a Madison-based duo playing both familiar and lesser-known folk\, rock\, blues\, and indie covers (with a heavy dose of women rockers represented!)\, and we continue to grow our repertoire of originals. Acoustic guitar combines with often subtle and occasionally driving electric guitar to deliver a little something for everyone. You’ll find some of our original music on bandcamp: \n  \n7PM – Old Gray Cats – We play Old Timey Music. This music came from the banjos and fiddles of the 1800’s. Bluegrass came out of this tradition. The fiddle tunes are still widely used for square dances and contra dances today. With the Old Gray Cats for today are: Linda Millunzi-Jones\, Fiddle Greg Jones\, Guitar Allen Wilson\, Banjo \n  \n8PM – Between Two Lakes – Between Two Lakes is a pop-rock powerhouse band hailing from the picturesque Isthmus of their namesake\, between the lakes of Monona and Mendota. Formed in 2023\, this talented group quickly became a sonic force to be reckoned with\, captivating audiences with their infectious melodies\, heartfelt lyrics\, and dynamic performances.
